Dawn R. Underhill established THE LAW OFFICE OF DAWN R. UNDERHILL, P.C. in 2006. She is a solo practitioner concentrating in family law, but also practices estate planning, real estate, traffic, criminal misdemeanor, and contract law. She received her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in psychology from Loyola University of Chicago in 1988. She graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1991. She was an assistant state’s attorney for Will County from April 1996 through May 2004 working in both the civil and criminal divisions. Prior to opening her own law firm, she worked in other law firms concentrating in real estate, personal injury, family law, and contract law.

Dawn R. Underhill is a member of the Illinois Bar Association, Will County Bar Association, and the Will County Woman’s Bar Association. She was appointed by Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas L. Kilbride to the Committee on Character and Fitness-Third District from 2007 through 2017. She was nominated and received membership to the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys 10 Best Law Firms from 2017 through 2019 and American Institute of Legal Counsel 10 Best Law Firms in 2018 and 2019. She served as the secretary for the Will County Woman’s Bar Association in 2010. She served as the President for the Council for Working Women through the Joliet Chamber of Commerce in 2009. She also served as the Secretary for the St. Paul Catholic School in Joliet and as a Girl Scout Leader from 2007 through 2014. Currently she is active on various committees for the Will County Bar Association, and has been a legal speaker for various organizations.
