As a native of Baltimore, Maryland, Attorney Cohen has been practicing law for over 23 years. Her extensive experience includes 11 years with the State of Maryland in Baltimore City at the Office of the Public Defender, where she honed her skills as a criminal defense trial attorney. This wealth of experience is now channeled into her private practice, The Law Offices of Kerri Cohen, where she serves as the voice and advocate for her clients in all aspects of Family Law and Mediation.

Attorney Cohen graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and English. Following graduation, she returned to Baltimore and attended law school at the University of Baltimore. She obtained her law degree in 2001 and gained hands-on experience working in law school with the Family Law Clinic. She also received her certificate in mediation. After graduation, Attorney Cohen worked for the Honorable Judge John Philip Miller as a law clerk in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. During her clerkship, Judge Miller handled one term of Family Law and one term in the Misdemeanor Jury Trial Courts. Clerking for the judge piqued her interest in Family Law and Criminal Defense.

Attorney Cohen’s commitment to justice is unwavering. She was admitted to the Bar in December 2001 and has since dedicated her career to serving the community. After her judicial clerkship, she was hired by The Law Offices of Mead & Flynn to head their Family Law Division. She then entered public service for the State of Maryland and the Office of the Public Defender, where she represented clients charged with serious felonies. Attorney Cohen has tried hundreds of cases before judges and juries in the Circuit, District, and Juvenile Courts, always striving for justice.

Attorney Cohen’s commitment to the legal community is evident in her current roles. She currently serves on the Judicial Appointment Committee for the Maryland Bar Association since 2022. Additionally, she serves as the Chairperson of the Baltimore County Bar Association (BCBA) Bench/Bar Committee and Vice Chair of the Advocate Committee, the BCBA’s monthly newsletter as well as the upcoming Secretary of the Baltimore County/Carroll County Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association.
